The judging panel of the 2021 SAANZ Graduate Essay Competition (Trudie Cain, Fairleigh Gilmore, and Jessica Terruhn) are pleased to announce that we have awarded the prize to Amelia Lawley (University of Auckland) for her excellent piece, ‘Women Behaving Badly: Problematization and Biopolitical Governance of Gender in the New Zealand Abortion Debate’.
As always, the quality of the submission was excellent, and this year we chose to make a Highly Commended award to Caitlin Hyde (Lincoln University) for her essay, ‘Grubs Up: Multiple Enactments of Insects as Food in Aotearoa’.
Both essays are being recommended for publication in New Zealand Sociology, and we would suggest that both will make valuable resources for those of us teaching in related areas.
